Ausangate is the ultimate trekking destination in the Cusco area. This beautiful snow-capped peak is one of the main features of the Cusco skyline but very few people actually ever see it up close. The area around Ausangate is full of natural beauty; with azure lakes and the majestic snow-capped peak ever present, trekking here is truly amazing.

Day 1: Cusco – Tinqui– Upis

We will pick you up at 06:00 am from your hotel and go by private van for about 2 hours to Tinki where we will get off to stretch our legs and we will take advantage of visiting the Tiki town where we will see people still wearing their typical dress. Then we drive for about 1 hour on dusty and bumpy roads. Once we get to the trailhead of our hike, we will have our delicious breakfast and then meet our horsemen. We will start the hike From Upispampa through many remote villages with many stream crossings until you get to the small town of Upis. The trail is almost flat with some ups and downs. We will hike for about 3 hours until we get to our campsite. Here we have our private Cabins where you will spend the night. Our cook will prepare a delicious lunch. After enjoying our meal, you have the option to hike to Upis Lake which takes 2 hours round trip. The trail to this beautiful lake is flat for about 40 minutes and the last 20 minutes is a gradual uphill. Once we come back from the lake, we will enter our cabins where we will have a chair to sit in and enjoy the tea looking at the amazing Ausangate through the window. Then we will have our dinner then we will go out to enjoy the first starry night, you will remember it

Day 2: Upis – Puca Cocha:

We will wake you up at 05:00 am with coca tea or coffee delivered to your Cabins and you are given a delicious breakfast for the day ahead. In The morning start hiking up to Arapa Pass (4968m) Along the way we are going to observe local farmers and alpacas, Ausangate snow-capped to your left side, and you will have English- a speaking guide explaining about flora, and fauna and talking about the landscape along the trail. if we are lucky we might see condor, chinchillas, and vicuñas. Also, we will enjoy colorful lakes and get to our campsite of Puca Cocha where we are going to be surrounded by high mountains and unbelievable hanging glaciers, watch and hear the glacier crashing into the tarns below! As usual, tents are going to be set up inside the mountain huts for us to change, take a nap, and have our lunch. Since this campsite is close to Puca Cocha Lake, you will go to the lake where you will see many types of ducks, Andean geese, and many other types of birds. Then you will have dinner at our dining room which is built with rocks and mud.

Day 3: Puca Cocha – Ananta – Kayrawiri

Today is a difficult day, You start with Puca Cocha pass (5051), the very colorful mountains that surround you. As well as you have a spectacular view of Mount Ausangate and colorful glacier lakes then you will enter into the Red Mountain valley, an intact landscape with vivid colors all around, and llamas eating grass right close to you.  Then you will have lunch at our dining room where our Rainbow Mountain 2 day spend the night. After our meal, we need to climb the second pass called Warmi Saya pass(15,090ft-4500m-14,000feet)from where you see this amazing Rainbow Mountain in the distance, but you are not quite there yet! From this place, you go downhill to circle the lake and keep walking a Peruvian flat until we reach our campsite. If the weather is good, we will go to the Rainbow Mountain for the sunset.

Day 4: Kayrawiri – Rainbow Mountain- Red Valley – Cusco

Today is the day you have been waiting for. We will wake you up at 06:00 am with coca tea delivered to your tent then you will hike for about 45 minutes until Rainbow Mountain.  you will have time to explore the area and take pictures. We will spend approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour (depending on your trekking speed and weather conditions). After enjoying the RAINBOW MOUNTAIN for about one hour, we go to visit the RED VALLEY which takes another 30 minutes. Then we go to the bus station to catch our van. Today after our last supper we say goodbye to our horseman and the chef and get back to Cusco where you will be dropped off at your hotel around 03:00 pm.

  • Once final balance has been paid, we will not be able to refund your trek payment in the case of cancellations. There will, however, be parts of your trip that you are able to use (Machu Picchu entrance fee, 1 train ticket, 1 bus ticket).
  • A claim letter for your insurance company can also be provided by us upon request.
  • Porter service hired can Not be cancelled (a fee is paid for booking this service).

ABSOLUTE ESSENTIALS FOR THE TREK:

FOR YOUR DAYPACKS:

Below is a list of items that we highly recommend you keep with you at all times in your personal backpack. Remember you will be carrying this with you everyday of the trek so we recommend you bring a good quality daypack which is both light and comfortable. It is important to note that due to local regulations, your backpack should not exceed 25L. All larger backpacks can not be taken into Machu Picchu and will need to be stored outside the gates.

ADDITIONAL ITEMS FOR YOUR DUFFEL BAGS:

During the trek will provide you with a duffel bag in which you can pack any items that you won’t need to keep with you during the day. Our porters will carry this bag for you throughout the trek. Please note this bag should weigh a maximum of 7 kg including the weight of your sleeping bag and air mattress (if you bring/rent one). When rented from us these two items weigh approximately 3 kg. During the Inca Trek, you will travel through different temperatures as you climb/descend, it can also be cold at night when at the campsite. Therefore layers work best!

DEPOSIT:

In order to make a reservation with Wayna Peru Travel you are required to make a $200 deposit for each trek and a $ 50 deposit for Day Tours. The deposit should be paid via PayPal. . All deposits are unfortunately non-refundable as they are used to secure your reservation (by purchasing permits, entrance tickets, etc.).

REMAINING BALANCE:

The remaining balance can be paid upon your arrival to Cusco and we ask that this be paid at least 36 hours prior to your tour. If you are not able to arrive in Cusco this far in advance of your trek, we ask that you notify your travel agent in advance to make arrangements. You can pay the remaining balance with Peruvian Soles, Dollars (or a combination).

CANCELLATIONS:

All primary deposits are unfortunately 100% non-refundable. However, the earlier you notify us of a cancellation, the better we can assist you. Please send all cancellation notifications to info@waynaperutravel.com.

If you cancel 8 weeks or more days before departure: Cancellation fees equal the amount of your deposit.

8 weeks to 4 weeks before departure: 60% of the total tour price is due.

4 weeks to 5 days before departure: 80% of the total tour price is due.

5 days to 36 hours: 90% of the total tour price is due.

36 hours or less before departure: 100% of the total price is due.

PASSPORTS AND VISAS:

Visitors are responsible for ensuring that they have valid visas and / or passports. Passports are required to be valid for at least 6 months beyond the dates of travel.

CHILDREN:

All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Discounts may apply for children under the age of 12.

PRICES:

Prices are per person.

REFUNDS:

Refunds are processed to the credit card(s) used for the original payment.

TRANSFERS:

For your safety, comfort and convenience, we are the only company in Cusco that offers free transfers to and from the airport to your hotel on arrival and departure. Please send us your exact arrival time in advance. (ONLY FOR TREKS & PACKAGES)

TIPS:

Tipping in Peru is completely voluntary. Tipping guidelines are provided with your final travel documents that are provided during your tour briefing, held the day before your tour.
